Major male football tournaments cause a spike in domestic abuse incidents. To help people recognise the signs, respond safely and support survivors, a World Cup resource pack has been launched by IDAS

As previously discussed in this blog, incidents of domestic abuse reportedly rise at the time of male football tournaments whether a team wins or looses. For more information about why, visit our blog Will the World Cup Cause a Rise in Domestic Violence?

The attention given to this issue has led IDAS to launch a free resource pack with the aim of increasing awareness of domestic abuse, encouraging support and motivating the football community towards action.

To help people support survivors, recognise the signs of domestic abuse, and feel confident responding safely, we have created a World Cup resource pack. The pack includes practical scenarios, guidance on responding to disclosures of domestic abuse, steps to take to carry out safe intervention, and information on ways people can support IDAS. We have also produced posters that can be displayed in public spaces to signpost people to the resource and available support - IDAS

You can read the full IDAS article and download the resource pack on their website here https://idas.org.uk/worldcup2026/
