Who We Are

DV-ACT are a team of expert domestic abuse assessors available throughout the UK who have worked for many years in the domestic abuse sector in the greater London area. DV-ACT is an organisation which is independent from any other service and is therefore able to offer a high quality dedicated assessment service with timescales and fees that are more favourable to children's services cases. To see if we have assessors available in your area please contact us.

DV-ACT assessors have many years' experience in the family court arena, both as specialist assessors and as expert witnesses. Our assessors are all educated to post graduate level and have at least ten years’ experience of specialist direct work with domestic abuse perpetrators and victims.

What We Do

We provide expert domestic abuse assessments for children's services and for public and private cases in the family courts, including those under the Public Law Outline (PLO) and pre-proceedings.

We will liaise with domestic abuse programme providers for clients assessed as suitable and produce progress reports as required.

Our reports are based on rigorous assessment using the latest research based criteria, containing  practical, realistic risk management plans to assist in decisions regarding safeguarding children.  They can be used in court, with assessors available to attend as expert witnesses where necessary.

Impact of DV-ACT Assessments

DV-ACT assessors have proven track records of producing assessments which have beneficial impacts on cases:

  • Moving the case forward - we can help clarify thinking, pinpointing risks and making recommendations to manage them;

  • Timescales - we always try to ensure matters can be moved forward swiftly;

  • Informed decisions – we offer a level of insight into the dynamics of abuse and ongoing risks within the family, helping with decision making;

  • Children first – the welfare of children is our primary focus and always guides our recommendations.
